Book Cover:

The book cover is simple yet gorgeous. The authors have aptly chosen Green as the theme color of the book cover. Also, they didn’t add too many elements to the cover; instead, they kept the design minimal. Therefore, the attractive green color and the funky font of Attitude made an amazing combination to grab the reader’s attention and encourage them to buy the book.

Structure of the Book:
The book is divided into five parts that offer us five vital lessons – Vision, Change, Learning, Fear, and Boldness. Each chapter is divided into three or four sub-parts that explain the lessons in more detail.
The chapters begin with a quote inspired by a book, and then, the authors proceed to explain the crucial perspectives for building the right attitude that helps you achieve success.
Each chapter talks about great minds and how the core lessons can help you design the roadmap to your goals. Later, the authors sum up what made the difference to the leaders and how you can make the best use of those lessons to hit the bull’s eye.
While reading the book, you will feel the authors are taking you on an inspiring journey of adventures in life with insightful stories and lessons from the world’s greatest minds.
Writing Style:
The book is written in simple language and a lucid style. The authors used snippets from the books they researched for gathering their takeaways and thus, these snippets catch readers’ attention.
Additionally, the authors have presented everything easily, making the book approachable. I have read some non-fiction books where I couldn’t understand what the author wanted to convey to the readers.
But in this book, you will understand every aspect of the chapter as the authors have nicely summarized the essence of the book in that specific chapter.
A Glimpse of the Book:
In one chapter, the authors mention Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and they interestingly link it to the context of ‘work’. Similarly, they talk about The Slight Edge and explain how we repeat the same process of the work and thus, we get the same result. Therefore, we must follow the right attitude and constantly work towards embracing the change with proper actions.
The authors also offer the readers a visual to implement Tim Ferriss’s four-step DSSS Model that helps you set a goal with a fixed deadline and get there easily within time.
One interesting thing I learned from this book is the Accountability Mirror. In one chapter, the authors quote David Goggins and mentioned the concept of the Accountability Mirror. It’s a nice ritual that should be practiced daily to see where you are standing on the path to reaching your goals and check if you are accountable for your goals.
A Quote to Remember:
“Whatever you hope to achieve in life, the right attitude is crucial to getting you there.”
– From Book Attitude: The Sh*t They Never Told You by Adam Ashton & Adam Jones
“Change takes practice, and the more you embrace it, the better you will become at making things happen.”
– From Book Attitude: The Sh*t They Never Told You by Adam Ashton & Adam Jones
“If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always got.”
– From Book Attitude: The Sh*t They Never Told You by Adam Ashton & Adam Jones
What Makes the Difference:
Unlike other self-help books, Attitude talks about proven examples of a success mindset. If your first impression after receiving the book is “This a boring book that only summarizes the lessons that others have already written, reading this book is a waste of time,” kind of something, then let me tell you that you are very much wrong.
Attitude is not a book that brings you summaries of other motivational books; rather, this book helps you develop a positive attitude toward your life quoting the references of other books.
The chapters are written in such a way that they keep the readers hooked till the end to know the usefulness of the lesson and how to incorporate them into your daily life to make a difference.
In the authors’ words:
“Every lesson will be useful, and one might change your life. Remember, it is your attitude, not aptitude, that determines your altitude in life.”
– From Book Attitude: The Sh*t They Never Told You by Adam Ashton & Adam Jones
After finishing reading the book, I was excited to go back and give it a re-read. Because the words written inside this book are not mere words but are lessons learned the hard way, and thus, they have a practical approach to making our life more purposeful.
Some Important Highlights:
I learned a lot from this book. But there are some things that I want to practice actively and make a habit.
The authors beautifully presented a roadmap to take action toward your goal with three simple yet effective steps:
Decide.
Aim.
Shoot.
In their words, “A directionless person is volatile – someone with a vision is at least headed somewhere.”
Similarly, I came to know another interesting concept of learning that is incredibly helpful to excel in a skill you learn. The concept is called Deep Practice. If you can follow the three golden rules of Deep Practice, you can master any skill. In the authors’ words, “The brain tells the body what to do, and the body knows from all the practice, so the body can take over and do the rest of the job.”
My Recommendation:
If you are looking for a self-help book that serves you as your personal life coach to teach you vital lessons in life, then this book is for you. If you are looking for a book that offers you the crucial aspects of achieving success by developing a positive attitude, then this book is certainly for you.
Also, if you don’t want to miss the book that holds something special on every page and inspires you to know the miracles of attitude, then you must pick this book.
