About the Book:

If you are a poetry lover like me, then this book is for you. If you are wondering how to love yourself a little more and give yourself the value you deserve, forgetting what the world thinks of you and makes its judgments about your choices, then you must pick this poetry collection.

Inside this book, you will find a reflection of your broken self, and the journey of the poetess will resonate with yours. A Million Dreams by Nazish is not only a poetry book that offers you a bunch of soothing poetries that inspire you in soul-searching but also inspires you to accept your flaws, restore your hope to see new dreams, and gift yourself wings to fly high in the sky.

Book Cover:

The author, Nazish, is an artist and this is why her book cover depicts her dreamer self with millions of vibrant colors. Nazish designed the book cover herself. It depicts a terrace room with thousands of books adorning the bookshelf. The star-lit sky is peeking through the window and above the room, thus, adorning the room with the glow of stars. Beside the bed, in front of the table, a girl is busy painting, sitting on the floor. She is adding colors to the canvas, and with the brush strokes, her million dreams are coming alive in her small attic.

I don’t think there could be any other way to design the book cover that could be more attractive than this one. Nazish justified her book’s theme and the elements of the book cover in an artistic way.

Author Bio:

Nazish is a Writer by heart, an artist (painter) by chance and a graphic illustrator by choice. She started her writing journey in 2012 by blogging. Her short stories have been published in different anthologies and she regularly contributes to several e-magazines and magazines from time to time.

A post-graduate in English Literature, Nazish wishes to become a full-time traveler someday and share her travel stories through her writings and paintings.

This is her second book. Her first book, Escape – a collection of enigmatic feelings, is also a poetry collection. Nazish believes in dreaming and she is eternally grateful to Almighty for giving her the unique skills that make her different from others.

The Blurb:

Imagine reading a poem that speaks directly to your heart, acknowledges the pain and frustration you feel, and offers hope and inspiration.

Each poem has been crafted with extreme care and thoughtfulness, with the goal of offering a sense of comfort to those who read it.

It’s an emotional journey that will take you through the highs and lows of life, leaving you feeling a little bit lighter and a little more connected to your emotions and the emotions of those around you.

This eBook is not a guidebook that tells you how to break free from the chains that bind you. Instead, it is a celebration of the power of poetry to heal and inspire. To celebrate the power of you. I understand how it feels to be trapped, to feel like your dreams are out of reach. But poetry has the power to heal and inspire, to connect us with our deepest emotions and desires.

You deserve it, and you know it.

Structure of the Book:

The structure of the book is simple. It’s divided into basic parts including the notes of acknowledgment, the purpose behind writing this book, the author, the introductory note, and then the poems start. The book ends with the author’s gratitude note.

Only a friendly advice to the author, if she could have named her poems, it would have been better. But yes, sometimes not naming your creativity offers multiple facets to the viewer; I believe the author has justified with this perspective of a creative soul.

Writing Style:

The author has a writing style that gives you peace of mind. Although some of her poems have a sadistic tone, yet, in the end, you will feel inspired because the words give you hope.

The poems are written in a style that sounds like she is reciting them in front of you. So, if you read them aloud or recite them in your head while reading the book, you will feel you’re on a spoken poetry retreat and someone is telling her story through the beautifully written poems.

Each poem has a message of giving yourself rebirth. Therefore, these poems have a deeper meaning than they apparently seem; but I believe, they are reachable and understandable to only those who have been once there, the other side of life.

As I have those experiences rooted in me, I could realize the pain inked with her poetic expressions.

A Glimpse of the Book:

Firstly, I want to talk about the author’s beliefs on brokenness and wholeness. Her thoughts resonate with me and thus, I could relate to her every word.

For instance, read this excerpt from the book:

“The “me” that I always wanted to be, carrying her

Within myself,

Hoping someday she will emerge like a phoenix

And rise back from its own ashes.”

Secondly, I salute the author’s resilience to battle her inner demons and win over them to welcome the ray of hope in her life. Quite similar to my story, and that’s why I could feel her every word.

Read this excerpt from the book where she writes about how she keeps a balance between her negative thoughts and positive vibes:

“A part of me is always at the edge of the cliff, while a part of me is always chasing butterflies in the garden. A part of me is always drowning in the depth of despair, while a part of me is always dancing in the sunshine.”

A Quote to Remember:

“This is the real me, and I wish to unlearn everything, that isn’t giving me peace and running behind in learning everything – that is only making me wiser and stronger. I just for once, wish to be me…”

The above lines are quoted from one of the most beautiful poems in the book. I found this poem is a powerful voice for all of them who continuously judge people who follow their hearts. Every word of this poem shows a rebellious girl’s desire to live on her own by choosing an unconventional path.

What Makes the Difference:

While reading the book, many times I paused and wanted to read the poem again because the words resonated with me.

At one point, the author wrote, “while the other part of me keeps trying tirelessly, picking up the broken pieces of me and getting back to life.” This felt so me, so terribly me…and perhaps, for one moment, I could see my reflection in Nazish.

I am sure, you will see yourself in some poems or the other because this book has to offer a bunch of poems like a gentle reminder to fall in love with yourself.

Some Important Highlights:

One thing that caught my attention in this book is the author’s play with the word Home. She has defined the word Home several times in her poems. I am quoting some of the lines here:

“Perhaps, being in the moment would make me feel free and ease my soul. A feeling I would call a ‘home’.’

– From the book A Million Dreams by Nazish Kondkari

In the other poem, she quoted:

“Home for me is the fragrance of paints.”

– From the book A Million Dreams by Nazish Kondkari

How wonderfully this line resonates with the voice of every artist and their artistic dreams.

In the same poem, she wrote some beautiful that touched my heart:

“But I love this feeling, my home resides within me, With all its flaws I live happily within.”

– From the book A Million Dreams by Nazish Kondkari

I loved how the author wrote about self-acceptance, the bliss of solitude as a means of self-introspection, and embracing self-love as the best gift from the Almighty.

My Recommendation:

This book has so many beautiful lines to quote that I couldn’t resist myself to bring them to you. However, while talking about self-love and finding hope, I must quote this excerpt from the book where the author wonderfully depicts how to keep going with hope in your heart.

“But whenever I went in search of myself,

I found a new one, that loved me selflessly.

Whenever I thought this is the end,

It turned out to be a new beginning.”

Therefore, if you are looking for a poetry book that would accompany you on a lonely evening and inspire you to love yourself, pick this book without thinking twice. The beautifully written poems are short and profound, and they will be your best friend as they will offer you a chance to introspect and reflect.
