Sakhi

Se ek kala Amar kache elo

Kon se jadute Amay vulalo

Ami khudha trisha sob haralam

Jagat sangsar sob vulilam

Khonek darai, khonek haasi

Noyon joler plabone bhasi

Jedike chai sob e adhar

Sudhu dekhi se rup o bahar

Kalo ek chand jeno amar chokh bedheche

Kalo boron rakhal jeno amay dhabiche

Kopale tilak, golay mala, payete nupur pori,

Bhramiche sadai bajaiya bashi, baiche surer tori,

Kala kon se mohe amay joralo

Kon se mayay amay badhilo

Translation:

Sakhi, a black boy came to me and did His magic on me so I forgot everything. I lost my ability to eat and drink. I even forgot the world, only remembered Him. I pause and wait for one moment and smile, but the next moment, I start crying aloud and tears flood my chest. Wherever I look, I can see darkness everywhere, but amidst that darkness, I can see a glimpse of Him like lightning.

Sometimes, it seems like a black moon has blindfolded my eyes. Sometimes, it looks like a black shepherd boy is always chasing me. His forehead is adorned with sandalwood designs. A garland is resting on His chest. He also wears anklets on His lotus feet. He is roaming here and there playing His flute as if boating on the river of melody.

I can feel, the black boy has bonded me with a bond of affection and tied me up with the Supreme illusion.
