I often curse myself
For not having the things I once desired
Dreamed of, made a wish list with,
Those things remained a faraway dream for me
And they kept chasing me till I broke down and cried.
But when I journey inward,
I have the visions of the moments
That made me feel
The purpose behind this birth was fulfilled.
The moment when someone saved me from falling downstairs
The moment when someone saved me from going under the railway tracks
The moment when someone saved my father from falling from the car
The moment when the four of us were saved from drowning in the river
Aren’t they enough to utter a spell of gratitude?
When I look around,
I feel the scarcity in my material life
The absence of the things that were part of my life’s plan
But when I look within,
I feel the glow of gratitude beaming in my heart
And I realize that living a life with a purpose
Is all about surrendering myself to the greater landscape
Where my life is filled with
The gifts from the universe.
