The soul is a wanderer;

Seeking a momentary shelter

It keeps entering the homes that offer

Moments to pause. Maybe after

A long journey where the boat reaches the ghat

Rests awhile, waiting to depart

Again. To begin another journey

In search of another home…

    Poignant! How well you combined the soul’s journey with the ghats and boat rides. Reminds of me something! Have to think about it.

    Such a soulful piece on impermanence and the quiet longing for belonging. I also liked how you used Varanasi (I’m assuming?) as the pictorial representation to get across the meaning of your words and takeaways with this one.

      This poem is written on the theme of Manikarnika Ghat and the journey of a soul. That’s why I used Varanasi as my poem’s image.

      I had goosebumps while writing this poem. For the certain reason you understand. 🙂

    You’ve beautifully captured the journey of a soul with the analogy of boats reaching the ghat. Such deep and profound thinking!

    I really like how you visualize the concept of rebirth, with the boat reaching its ghat after taking several steps-it’s very well done.

    Is the number of hops before reaching the ghat seven?
    All the best.
