I wear this earth on me.

I draw a circle on my forehead with soil, weave a chaplet, a garland, and bangles of leaves.

Sink myself in the river and keep floating…

The earth lives in me.

Unfolding the chapters of the story living within, slowly, the fragrance of fallen foliage rises from the heap beside the footpath.

Walking alone, I smell the rain-soaked earth.

Sitting on the lonely cement bench in the park, we start our conversation.

I, earth, and the silence between us.
