Dear Sister,
My little princess, it’s only for you. You are my sweetheart, you are one of my soul companions. You are my best friend, you are my dearest one in the world. I think, we are made of same stardust and the universe wrote our stories together. Today I am here only because of you. In rain in summer, you were always there to be my rainbow and sunshine.
You are my cutest and sweetest Teddy-Pillar of strength. And I am grateful to the universe for gifting me such a beautiful angel as my sister. Yes, I believe, you are an angel disguised in the attire of the most adorable girl in the world whom I love to the moon and back! I have always seen the demon look of you. The demon who is always cooking a plan in her mind how to annoy her elder sister with the best plan in the world and she could reveal her monster version at her best! I always welcomed this version of you with my utmost innocence and my love was never lessen for that avatar of you. But, in this phase of the pandemic outburst, I saw another version of you that is as unique as surprising for me. I have never seen you entering in the kitchen with so much maturity. Never before you revealed the master-chef in you that was hidden for a long time in your bubbly avatar. I have never seen you cooking Daal! Making Roti! Sharing the loads of the kitchen duties with me!! This was as shocking as soothing for me. You knew that our family was going through a lot, Mum was severely sick for months. And this phase of our lives stringed us together like the guitar that was waiting for long in the attic of the house. As if, it was eagerly waiting for strumming the most beautiful note of sisterhood and when this happened, I realized an amazing kind of bond between us. That we hear each other’s unsaid words. That we feel each other’s unspoken emotions. That we read each other’s unfinished sentences.
The first day when you told me that you were about to enter the kitchen and decided to help me in the cooking stuffs, I was highly shocked. But soon after I saw you doing these all with a skilled manner, I was deeply touched and my heart was filled with pleasure for my little cute angel. Remember that day when you made the roti for the first time? It became oval shaped and seeing that, I laughed at you. That time, your face was something I always craved to see. A defeated soldier in a failed ‘Roti’ mission. The next day, while I was busy in preparing the lunch, you helped me in peeling off the vegetables and cut them into pieces. You wanted to learn from me how to cook the special Aalu Posto. I was very happy to share the process with you and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole cooking project. Silently, I welcomed you in my battalion.
After some days, I was busy in my writing works and you told me, you will handle the kitchen for a day. I looked at Dad and we exchanged our fears with our blinks. Dad was very afraid of the disaster he was about to witness in the kitchen of the house and I was very worried to see our kitchen’s renovated look. Even I started planning and finding the ideas how to restore it back to its older version. Anyway, we were extremely proud of our youngest member of the house to see that she was very excited to take the responsibility of her own house! Okay, a part of the house and probably, the most important wing of the daily mission that occur in the house.
On addition, you took the responsibility of taking care of Mum, too. I saw you nursing, feeding and cooking her favourite dishes in the kitchen battle. Trust me dear, I was helpless to see you fighting in that mission but all I was aimed to do the work I was assigned. Many times, I told you that I was unable to concentrate on my work and I wanted to give up. But, it was you, my Teddy-Pillar who helped me to gather the courage and hope to keep going. You are the sole reason I didn’t quit my work that time. When we eagerly waited for the day’s lunch and the battle’s outcome, you, my teddy-bear, my cute angel, you presented the lunch in a graceful way with all your efforts beautifully adorned with the crown of victory! The lunch was filled with delicious dishes, whether some of them appeared to be better than Mum, honestly speaking, my angel! In all of them we smelled your love and devotion, we embraced the wonderful miracle with all our joy and happiness. And I saw invisible drops of tears in Mum’s eyes, floating with pride for her little angel.
In those days, we saw our little teddy-bear growing as the teddy-pillar of strength, courage, and determination. I saw my little angel becoming an empowered woman with a new earned identity, proudly blossomed with grace and wisdom.
This letter is for you, little princess of mine. Thanks for sharing the load in this toughest phase of life. Thanks for holding my tear drops and hiding me in your arms. Thanks for being a forever companion of my journey. Thank you, for everything.
With lots of love and hugs,
Your Teddy-Gyan
