Sometimes I feel

I don’t belong to anything

That apparently seems to be mine;

Perhaps

They don’t belong to me

For I feel they were never mine.

I renounce everything

Once I called them mine –

My name

My identity

My family

And my home,

So that they never call me from behind

When I walk ahead.

I nurture a strong sense of ‘Detachment’

For I can feel there was never something to be called mine

I can feel, this soul has been wandering since

It has never been attached to this material world.

I am waiting for the calling

That will guide me toward the stillness I am seeking

To detach is nothing new to learn

For I am already detached from everything once was home.

Oh, the last line! Love it, Swarnali.

Mastering detachment is not easy, so kudos for walking that path.

Detachment is something I seek. I am too attached to the world and its luxuries!

Detachment is the ultimate goal of the soul to attain Nirvana but isn’t it the toughest to practice it ? Beautiful poem!

Oh, that was beautiful! Detachment is tough in this world of illusions, but what we can try is not becoming a slave to it. Your poem captures the essence “nothing is mine” beautifully. May you achieve all that you seek!

It’s one of the toughest things to be detached and yet we know that is the path to evolve into our higher states. May you find bliss in it, Swarnali.

This is my read during today’s morning commute. Amid the morning rush, it sometimes feels a bit out of place. But when I revisit it in the evening, it’s pure bliss. It evokes a deep sense of longing—a soul arrested by the boundaries of everyday life, yearning for freedom, fully aware of the meaninglessness of materialistic life.

    Enjoyable. Well done.
