The wheel of action is

a reminder of the truth

That humans can’t escape their Karma

The wheel of action

That reinforces the past deeds

in the present, and writes the script

for the future, is always there

to examine your words, emotions, and actions.

But when you are dwelling

above all,

the karmic chakra can’t touch you

For you rise above everything

that is bound to fall

into the whirl,

in the wheel.

Sheer coincidence, my post on K is Karma too. The wheel of action, truth, dharma, destiny… How much is karma and how much fate? Your lines raise those questions that I have raised too though differently.

Sometimes, I can’t believe in the appropriate judgement of Karma. Based on my own experience and having witnessed the last years of my maternal grandmother, I can’t understand whether it was properly judged by Karma. That’s why in my poem I took the liberty to imagine dwelling in such a state where there is no Karma. Nothing falls in the wheel of Karma, and living in a state above all of this.

The imagery of the “wheel of action” serves as a touching reminder of the continuous cycle of cause and effect. Rising above the karmic cycle to attain a state of detachment is a profound concept, and you’ve conveyed it with grace and clarity.

Thank you, Manali. I am quite disheartened seeing Karma’s judgement. Out of frustration, I wrote this poem where I imagined dwelling in such a state that is above the wheel of action.

Wow, this poem on karma really struck a chord with me. The imagery of the “wheel of action” turning endlessly, holding us accountable for our words, emotions, and actions, is both profound and thought-provoking. It reminds me that our past deeds shape our present and future, emphasizing the importance of mindfulness in every aspect of life. The idea that by rising above worldly attachments, we can transcend the cycle of karma, offers a sense of hope and liberation. It’s fascinating how the poem encapsulates complex spiritual concepts in such a concise manner. The notion that the karmic cycle can’t touch us when we dwell above all resonates deeply, suggesting a path towards inner peace and self-realization. This piece has inspired me to reflect more on my actions and their consequences, encouraging a more conscious and intentional way of living. It’s a beautiful reminder that while we can’t escape karma, we can choose how we engage with it. The poem’s depth and simplicity make it a powerful read, leaving a lasting impression on my understanding of karma and personal growth. I’m grateful for this insightful piece and look forward to exploring more from the ‘Journey Inward’ series. It’s a gentle nudge towards introspection and spiritual awakening.

It’s interesting that you use the wheel of action as a recurring element in your poem. The Wheel of Fortune is the 10th card of major arcana in tarot. It is also called the card of change and the card of karma. Depending on the surrounding cards, getting a wheel in a reading could imply that someone is about to face the karma of their past actions (this can be good or bad).

I like your concept of raising to a position above everything that even karma doesn’t affect the person. Guess it would be the zen level.

I loved the analogy with Karmic Chakra and the wheel of fortune here. Beautiful poems, Swarnali!

This was my afternoon read. I went through the same passage twice, then decided to save it for my evening reading instead.

    For you rise above everything

    that is bound to fall

    into the whirl,

    in the wheel.

But I wonder, can any state truly be above all others? Such state is really tempting!

At the same time, my mind murmurs whether karma really keeps a perfect account book. Someone really need to audit it! Let’s not get into it for now. I want to keep the taste of the nectar of the poetry I’ve just read!

    All the best!
