When I pray, I seek blessings

I seek peace

I seek wisdom,

I seek light.

I pray for the soul to be liberated

From fear

From attachments

From constraints

All the things that keep pulling me behind.

I seek survival

I seek progress

I seek rebirth

From fearfulness to fearlessness

From scarcity to abundance

From stagnation to the ever-flowing river

From a barren field to a flowering meadow

From a parched land to a rain-bathed garden

From ‘I’ to ‘You’

From ‘one’ to ‘zero’ –

I seek

The liberation from everything that makes me wander

For I seek blessings to become the supreme wonder.

I liked all the analogies but these two were my favourites coz one shows personal growth and the other creates a beautiful imagery of nature and its abundance.

    From fearfulness to fearlessness
From a barren field to a flowering meadow

May you, we, and all of us attain this kind of liberation. Good one, Swarnali

Thanks Manali. This poem is inspired by a song that I usually sing as my prayer. When I thought about the word ‘liberation’ , don’t know why I wanted to write my prayer in the same way. Thank you so much for reading.

That’s not only an introspective poem but also a one with great imagery.

My favorite is where you want to go from one to zero and seek blessings to become the supreme wonder. A great concept!

Thanks a lot, Sri. This poem is inspired by a Rabindrasangeet that I usually sing as my prayer.

The best part is going from fearfulness to fearlessness. I felt that line deeply.

Fear, attachment, and other constraints definitely pull us back and keep us from moving forward.I pray that you achieve everything you seek.CRDwww scriptedinsanity blogspot com

This strongly aligns with the philosophical idea that the divine resides within everyone and that each individual is a manifestation of a God. Some maya can distract us, when we are able to evade and look far from it, we can feel that. Your poem made me to remember a poetry by Kulasekara Alwar.

ūṉēṟu celvattu uṭaṟ piṟavi yāṉ vēṇṭēṉ
    ānēṟēḻ veṉṟāṉ aṭimait tiṟamallāl
    kūṉēṟu caṅka miṭattāṉ taṉ vēṅkaṭattu
    kōnēri vāḻum kurukāyp piṟappēṉē:

I do not want to be born with a human who merely nourishes his physical form.
I wish to be born as a kuruku (heron/crane) in the sacred ‘Koneri pond’ on the Tiruvengada hills (Venkateswara Temple).

It is so divine. Keep it going. All the best.
