I close my eyes and see the circles;

I let my mind unravel –

its petals to bloom into a lotus.

The intricacies

in those full-fledged petals

Fall beyond my understanding.

I keep wondering,

about their designs,

about their journey,

about their meanings,

And wandering within;

I see their beauty –

holding, preserving, unfurling,

in their own mysterious ways.

    Nature is full of secrets, ones that could possibly help us learn more about ourselves. Beautiful poem, Swarnali!

      Thanks for reading, Sri. Nature is full of mysteries, you’re right. But my poem is about meditation.

      Hello Esha! Thank you so much for reading. I tried to leave my comments on your posts but couldn’t. I will try again in some time.

    Such a calming and introspective piece. I love how it captures the wonder of inner exploration—like finding beauty in the unknown patterns of our own thoughts.

    I’ll tell you my interpretation of your poem. Let me know if that is what you meant.

    Are the circles your experiences, things you read, incidents you go through…and then the blooming lotus is your personality and thought process being formed?

    Love your use of imagery. I wish I could do free verse even half as well as you and some of the other Blogchatter members do 🙂

    The poem brings in a layer of truths that the mind experiences from time to time. Your poems are very deep.

    I’ve struggled to observe my inner thoughts, with repeated attempts proving unsuccessful. However, I remember one of my professors suggesting that I leave my mind open, close my senses, and simply watch my thoughts unfold without judgment. He wish me to appreciate each thought, acknowledging it with a simple, ‘Oh, that’s how you think? Okay.’
    I can relate to the poem. I hope to realise it one day.

    The way you used the lotus metaphor made the concept simple. Well done. All the best.
