Yamini remembered what her mother told her once. “The light hides a little flame, sleeping inside the deepest chamber of darkness, only to be set ablaze when it meets another source of light. And that light sometimes comes in the form of compassion, sometimes hope, sometimes love, or perhaps, with all of them together.”

Mother’s voice echoed in her ears, “I am hiding a little light inside you, as a sign of my inheritance of the blessings that I am carrying within. You will never see it, but there will come a moment in your life when that flame in you will be set ablaze, becoming the guiding light to someone lost in the darkness. At that moment, you will be free from the curse you were born with.”

And that moment arrived when they met, yet didn’t. The emptiness left them thirsty forever.

Yamini didn’t want Vivaswan to know about the love she buried in her heart. Year after year, she had been carrying her love for Vivaswan. She never came in front of him, for she knew he fell in love with her song, her dance, her poetry. They described her beauty to him.

Yamini remembered the night when Vivaswan came to her place for the first time.
